Old hardware? Just bin it...
Well, we would like you to think again. Why do you want to kick out the old stuff?
Too slow?
Not enough space left on the hard disk?
Not compatible with the other equipment?
Whatever the reason - think data safety first.
As long as the hard disk of a computer is undamaged there is still data on that disk.
Even if you erased all data (by putting them into the Recycle Bin) they can be easily restored. Without physically overwriting the storage area of the data several times the data can still be accessed. In some cases there might even be a legal requirement to provide an audit trail of data storage (and -destruction). If a PC is simply dumped that trail is dumped with it.
Bottom line: data that should not get into the wrong hands.
At MiT Ltd. we provide the complete range of services to “sanitise” your hardware, delete your data so they can not be restored, restore the PC to its “factory default state” and assist you in either finding a new home for your obsolete hardware by donating it or otherwise recycling the materials.
On request we physically destroy hard disks and provide photographic evidence of the destruction before disposing of the remains.
