EPOS-Systems (= electronic point of sale) are usually considered to be complicated, specialised and pretty costly systems.
This does not have to be the case:
A POS system can be utilised with a basic PC running Windows and some simple devices connected to it:
- a slip printer
- bar code scanner
- cash drawer
etc. These devices all connect to a plain, off-the-shelf PC. The manner in which they connect is not any more complicated than other PC hardware. The classic starter kit looks like this:

Not bad compared to other quotations we have seen (usually in the range from € 5000 to € 10000), but, this must be running on a shoestring, being very limited in its options?!
Well, it might not be the perfect fit for everybody, but the list of features is impressive.
